$15-$20

Please read our COVID Visitor Requirements before purchasing tickets.

Tour ticket holders do not need to purchase a Daily Grounds Pass, as tour tickets include grounds access.

This outdoor walking tour examines the history of the landscaped estate throughout three families’ ownership. Visitors are led down from the Lyndhurst Veranda and its marble garden furniture and fountains through a series of garden sitting areas and rock outcroppings known as “rockeries” which offer sweeping views of the Hudson River. Trees, plantings, and various outbuildings are discussed in passing. The tour concludes inside the restored 19th-century bowling alley with an exhibit on Lyndhurst’s fourth owner, Helen Gould, and Lyndhurst neighbor Madam C. J. Walker.

The tour departs from the Welcome Center and requires the ability to walk over the uneven hilly ground for 90 minutes. While much of this tour goes downhill on cement pathways and stairs, it requires an uphill walk to return to the Welcome Center. It is not recommended for those with mobility issues or children under 6 years of age. For those with mobility issues, please let our staff know as there is an ADA-accessible route for this tour.

All ticket purchases are non-refundable.

For everyone’s safety Lyndhurst requires masks in all indoor spaces including the Bowling Alley as a courtesy to staff and fellow guests. As in any public setting, we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed to COVID-19. By visiting Lyndhurst, you voluntarily assume such risks.
