Shakespeare’s As You Like It

This summer, M&M Performing Arts and Red Monkey Theater Group will introduce open-air theater in the Palm Court of the Greenhouse at Lyndhurst. Enjoy the fresh summer air and a wonderful Shakespearean performance with your family or friends. The company will perform As You Like It alfresco under the stunning metal skeleton of the Lord & Burnham 1880s gothic greenhouse.  All the world’s a stage as the characters in Shakespeare’s classic comedy As You Like It navigate politics, injustice, love, and gender identity. Join us in the Palm Court to see if love really can conquer all.

Performances will be open to the elements and performed on a weather-permitting basis beginning promptly at 6:00 pm. Performances are 90 minutes without an intermission. At 6:00 pm, the audience will gather in front of the greenhouse and enter the Palm Court, where seating is provided.

Picnicking is an important part of the outdoor summer theater experience!  Your ticket includes early access starting at 4:30 pm to a specified picnicking area near the greenhouse. There are no picnic tables on the premises, and the chairs are for the theater performance only. Feel free to bring low-profile tables and chairs, a blanket, and an umbrella for shade. The picnic area is near the seating for the theater performance. Feel free to leave your picnic things in place (umbrellas closed) while you watch the performance, and then clear your dinner area as you leave.  Picnicking is carry-in, carry-out. Tents, open flame, and BBQs are not permitted. 

Important information:

• Tickets are $49 for all seats plus service fees. Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
• Tickets must be shown at the entry gate and at the performance area.
• If not picnicking, please arrive 20 minutes before the show begins. The entrance gate will close at 6:00 pm and there is no late seating.
• All cars must exit the gate immediately after the performance; Lyndhurst grounds will close 15 minutes after the end of the performance.
• Parking is free.
• The play runs 90 minutes without an intermission.
• Appropriate for ages 12 and up.
• The grassy area and gravel drive around the greenhouse, and the brick and pavement floor of the greenhouse are uneven and may not be suitable for all people.
• Restrooms are located near the greenhouse.
• Please expect an email by 3 pm on the day of the performance if the event is cancelled by Lyndhurst due to inclement weather.  Refunds will be provided within 5-7 business days.
