Victorian Holiday Tea and Tour 2025
December 6th, 2025
The event will begin with a tour of Lyndhurst Mansion. This one-hour tour covers two floors and gives visitors a rare glimpse of the lavish decorative arts and furniture left at Lyndhurst by previous owners. The mansion will be spectacularly decorated for the Holidays! The tour visits approximately 16 rooms and involves climbing one staircase with 25 steps. You’ll see the first floor of the mansion including the parlor, filled with furniture designed by architect A.J. Davis, and the sumptuous Civil War-ear dining room. The second floor centers around the opulent Grand Art Gallery hung with an original collection of European paintings brought to Lyndhurst by the Gould family. Impressive Tiffany stained glass windows.
Guests of the Victorian Holiday Tea and Tour will then adjourn to the carriage room of the Welcome Center. They will enjoy a selection of festive treats and teas while learning about the history of Christmas crackers, a popular Victorian novelty item. From its 19th century beginnings as a Parisian bonbon to the whimsical novelties we know today, guests will discover the fascinating story and artistry behind this beloved holiday tradition.
This will be a mini afternoon tea service that will include small tea sandwiches, scones, and a Victorian sponge. While not a full meal, this mini afternoon tea will include slightly more food and new savory options than our normal sweet tea service!
The tea experience will be led by Bridget Bray, owner of the Puddings and Biscakes teas and the creator of custom-crafted tea experiences.
Seating will be community style to encourage a convivial atmosphere while guests enjoy their tea service and short program. This will be ideally suited for guests to join on their own or with others. Guests booked together will be seated together.
