Group Tours

Group tours are subject to Lyndhurst’s calendar availability and occasionally may need to be rescheduled due to events and other programming taking place on the estate.

Lyndhurst offers guided tours of the mansion and grounds year-round for groups of ten or more of all ages. Tours include the Classic Mansion Tour which is perfect for first-time visitors. This one-hour guided tour visits two floors of the mansion and requires the ability to navigate stairs and a short, uphill walk. A more comprehensive one-and-a-half-hour tour encompassing all six floors of the mansion, from the observation tower to the basement kitchen is an alternative for those capable of climbing five flights of stairs and is available upon request. Garden Clubs and outdoor adventure groups may choose Landscape tours.

All tours begin at the Welcome Center. Public restrooms and the Lyndhurst gift shop are also located in the Welcome Center. We recommend allowing 90 minutes on our property for the Classic Mansion Tour and more time for Backstairs or Landscape tours in planning your visit.

For those interested in reserving a Spanish language group tour please contact Lora Proietti below.

Spend a beautiful afternoon enjoying a traditional tea experience at our Gothic Revival Style mansion overlooking the Hudson River!  Step into the charmingly appointed carriage house and experience this favored and treasured event as British high society did in the early 19th century and was later adopted in many regions of the world.  This all-encompassing, three hour long tea service has a little bit of everything. It includes an abbreviated tour of the mansion, tea and sweets or luncheon, and your choice of accompanying informative entertainment. You can customize this experience to fit your needs!

Intended as an engaging and social occasion, the Rose Afternoon Tea will be presented by Bridget Bray, creator of boutique experiences. She will share the origins, traditions, and etiquette of the long-favored British afternoon tea service and include several tea blends from her Puddings and Biscakes tea line, now available in the Lyndhurst Mansion store.
