Included in Mansion Tour

Contemporary painter Marc Dennis creates hyper-realistic paintings that co-opt the painting styles of celebrated works from the past. Dennis recycles old master floral still lifes, paintings by Ingres, and even Édouard Manet to explore contemporary questions of culture, humor, and identity.

Initially installed as part of Lyndhurst’s Flower House, five of the artist’s works remain displayed throughout the mansion and can be viewed on tours all summer and into the fall. These contemporary paintings seamlessly reference several 19th-century French academic paintings in the Lyndhurst collection.

We wish to thank Harper’s Gallery and the artist for this special exhibition.
