Explore Lyndhurst, a majestic estate on the banks of the magnificent Hudson River where every visitor can experience firsthand an American icon of architecture and landscape. Whether you are a first-time visitor or returning guest there is always something new to discover.

Located in the Lower Hudson Valley, Lyndhurst’s proximity to New York City makes it an easily accessible day trip by train or car.  Guests continue to be inspired by the art, history, and landscape which can be experienced through multiple guided tour options or you may choose to stroll through the beautiful grounds on your own.

Visitors can join the Classic Mansion Tour that explores Lyndhurst’s sumptuously decorated first and second floors filled with 175 years of original period furniture and decorations including objects designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany and the Herter Brothers and paintings by Courbet, and Corot.

Entry to our current exhibit is included with any tour ticket purchase. These exhibitions will enhance your understanding of Lyndhurst and often feature pieces usually in collections storage or lent by family descendants. If you are interested in viewing our current exhibit only, please choose to purchase a stand-alone Exhibit Ticket.

A specialty Backstairs Tour includes unique spaces such as the observation tower, a six-room basement kitchen, servant spaces, and a laundry building. The breathtaking view from the tower is unmatched and on clear days, visitors can see the New York City skyline 25 miles away.

Multiple Landscape Tour options highlight our recently restored lower landscape, fountains, and specialty gardens and include entry to the c.1894 Bowling Alley and 1911 Swimming Pool Building. A rare fountain by Frederick MacMonnies complements 19th-century marble benches imported from Italy and lead to rock-lined pathways with picturesque views of the majestic Hudson River.
