Perfect for first-time guests, this one-hour tour covers two floors and treats visitors to a rare glimpse of the lavish decorative arts and furniture left at Lyndhurst by previous owners. The tour, which lasts an hour, visits approximately 16 rooms and involves climbing one staircase with 25-steps. You’ll visit the first floor of the mansion including the parlor, filled with furniture designed by architect A.J. Davis and the sumptuous Civil War-era dining room. The second-floor centers around the opulent Grand Art Gallery hung with an original collection of European paintings brought to Lyndhurst by the Gould family. Impressive Tiffany stained glass windows adorn the gallery and adjacent bedrooms.

Please present printed tour tickets or have them available on your smartphone to show to Welcome Center staff when checking in for your tour.

All visitors must have a pre-purchased ticket to enter the Mansion. A limited number of tickets are available for each tour and tickets do sell out. If you are taking a tour, you do NOT need to purchase a Daily Grounds Pass. All ticket purchases are non-refundable.

All tours are limited to ten participants.

Pieces from the 2022 season’s art exhibition Women’s Work are currently on view as you proceed through the first and second-floor rooms of the Mansion.  An in-depth discussion of the exhibition and artwork is available through our Women’s Work Exhibition Tour.

For everyone’s safety, Lyndhurst reserves the right to deny or revoke the admission of any visitor who refuses to comply with these guidelines. As in any public setting, we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed to COVID-19. By visiting Lyndhurst, you voluntarily assume such risks.

Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. Discounts are available to eligible visitors. Membership discounts are valid for Classic Mansion Tours, May through September only.

In the event of a cancellation, an email notification will be sent to ticket holders through our ticketing partner Showclix.

Accessibility

Lyndhurst welcomes all visitors, but please note that this tour requires the ability to be standing for approximately one hour and climb stairs.

The tour visits two floors of the mansion and only the first floor of the mansion is handicap accessible.

There is no elevator in this historic building.

Not recommended for children under 6 years of age.

 

 

Plan Your Trip

The guided tour will start at the Welcome Center, the brick complex located just past Lyndhurst mansion, where visitors can check-in and visit the Gift Shop. No large bags or backpacks will be permitted in the mansion. Plan to arrive at the Welcome Center 15 minutes prior to your tour start time.
