Currently, the mansion is not open for tours.  Pending publication of further New York State guidelines for the reopening of museum buildings, we will re-evaluate the opening of the mansion for tours in the future.  Please check back here for updated guidance on the availability of Lyndhurst Mansion tours.

Perfect for first time guests, this one-hour tour covers two floors and treats visitors to a rare glimpse of the lavish decorative arts and furniture left to Lyndhurst by previous owners. The tour, which lasts an hour, visits approximately 16 rooms and involves climbing one staircase. You’ll visit the first floor of the Mansion including the parlor, filled with furniture designed by architect A.J. Davis and the sumptuous Civil War era dining room. The second-floor centers around the opulent Grand Picture Gallery hung with an original collection of European paintings. Impressive Tiffany stained glass windows adorn the gallery and adjacent bedrooms.

Discounts available to eligible visitors. Membership discounts are valid for Classic Mansion Tours, April through September. Thursdays, Fridays and Mondays in May are free for Tarrytown residents.

There are limited walk-on tickets available.


Lyndhurst welcomes all visitors, but please note that this tour requires extensive walking on uneven hilly grounds and the ability to be standing for approximately one hour.

While the tour visits two floors of the mansion, only the first floor of the mansion is handicap accessible.

There is no elevator in this historic building.

Not recommended for children under 6.



Plan Your Trip

The guided tour will start at the Welcome Center, the brick complex located just past Lyndhurst mansion, where visitors can check-in and watch a short video. No large bags or backpacks will be permitted in the mansion. Plan to arrive at the Welcome Center 15 minutes prior to your tour.
