Join us on September 20 to learn more about Jay Gould, the ruthless financier, the entrepreneurial teenager, loving father, and devoted husband, during a book talk with author Edward J. Renehan Jr. as he discusses his book Dark Genius of Wall Street: The Misunderstood Life of Jay Gould, King of the Robber Barons. A favorite resource of Lyndhurst staff, this book gives you the personal anecdotes behind the newspaper headlines, allowing you to get an intimate look at the deeply private Jay Gould while also revealing the stories behind the infamous schemes behind his massive success.

A Book Talk and Meet & Greet with the author will start at 3 PM and will be followed by a reception with light refreshments at 4 PM.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

EDWARD J. RENEHAN JR. is the author of numerous books, including Dark Genius of Wall Street: The Misunderstood Life of Jay Gould, King of the Robber Barons (2005), which has since been generally recognized as the most accurate and readable Jay Gould biography to date. BARRON’S praised the volume for providing “a fresh, evocative take on the Gilded Age and its brutal brand of business.” Writing in The Spectator (London), Martin Vander Weyer said: “Renehan [demonstrates] from contemporary sources that Gould’s misdeeds have been exaggerated over a century of telling…Renehan’s meticulous portrait does him proud.” Writing for Bloomberg, Ed Leefeldt described the book as “a primer for our own dark age of business leaders…Renehan’s dead-on biography is proof it happened before, and, if anything, Gould was better at it than the current collection of fraudsters.” The biography also received glowing reviews in The New York Times, Publishers Weekly, The Washington Post, and other media.
