Gardening Academy at Lyndhurst
In affiliation with the 9th District Federated Garden Clubs of New York State
This educational, hands-on practice with Lyndhurst’s Horticulturist is for any level of gardening enthusiast! Put your skills to work or learn new skills while helping to maintain an important historic landscape. The group will meet at 10:00am on the 4th Thursday of the month. Each 2-hour session will consist of education and hands-on time to use the skill. Registration is required and may have limits depending on the project. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for multiple projects! Potential projects throughout the landscape will be determined based on gardening conditions.
Our ongoing work in the Lyndhurst landscape includes:
- Rose garden – Pruning, deadheading, and weeding
- Entry Garden
- Herb Garden
- Welcome Center Garden
- Rock Garden perimeters
- Overlook Garden
Eugena Swart, Curator of Historic Landscapes at Lyndhurst, will run the program and supervise the group.
In appreciation of your volunteer work, you will receive 10% off in our Museum Gift Shop.
