This tour is a combination of our Classic Mansion and Backstairs tours. This tour follows the route of our ever-popular Classic Mansion Tour but does not stop after seeing the second floor as it will then take visitors up to our fifth-floor tower and then down to the basement level kitchens, finishing at the adjacent laundry building. This is a great option for anyone who wants to hear the full story of Lyndhurst in one tour!
The Upstairs-Downstairs treats visitors to a rare glimpse of the lavish decorative arts and furniture left at Lyndhurst by previous owners. You will visit approximately 25 rooms and involves climbing our main staircase with 25-steps to the second floor, and you will then take additional staircases to the top of the tower. You’ll then descend all 99 steps down to the basement level to view the kitchen, servant spaces, and service spaces that helped keep Lyndhurst running.
Please present printed tour tickets or have them available on your smartphone to show to Welcome Center staff when checking in for your tour.
All visitors must have a pre-purchased ticket to enter the Mansion. A limited number of tickets are available for each tour and tickets do sell out. If you are taking a tour, you do NOT need to purchase a Daily Grounds Pass. All ticket purchases are non-refundable.
