Elizabeth Burr is a great-granddaughter of Helen Gould Shepard and a Westchester County native. Burr grew up visiting Lyndhurst when it was in a much-deteriorated state and remembers the magic of coming to see a castle in a ruined landscape as a child. Burr has spent her adult life exploring a commitment to social justice and has an interest in the restorative impact of the landscape. Here, Burr reflects on the importance of the landscape to her.
