On Saturday, October 18th, join us for a special family day of Trick-or-Treating inside the mansion! This special trick-or-treat event will only happen on Saturday, the 18th. Please bring your own trick-or-treat bag and come dressed in your best Halloween costume!
This ‘Roam on Your Own’ weekend is one of our most popular events! Lyndhurst welcomes visitors to explore on their own the wonders of this Gilded Age mansion during the festive Autumn season! Timed entry allows guests to take in seasonal and spirited decorations on their own while strolling through this breathtaking historic home.
You will see the majestic vestibule and entrance hall, reception room, parlor, library, sumptuous Victorian dining room, and art gallery – decorated with autumnal trimmings for the season!
Lyndhurst Tour guides will be stationed throughout the house to answer questions.
Timed entry tickets are available between 10 am and 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Geordanes will be on-site to provide food for purchase!
Last entry into the Mansion will be at 4 pm.
Important Information, Please Read:
- Please be advised that this tour requires long periods of standing and flights of stairs.
- A limited number of tickets are available for each event, and events do sell out.
- Some tickets may be available for purchase on-site, but these are not guaranteed.
- Please arrive 15 minutes before the entry time on your ticket. If you are late, we will do our best to accommodate you, but we cannot guarantee it.
- Check-in at the Welcome Center.
- All ticket purchases are non-refundable.
- A Grounds Pass is not needed if you already have a Tour or Event Ticket.
- No large bags, backpacks, or strollers allowed in the mansion.

Discounts are available to eligible visitors. Membership discounts are valid for Classic Mansion Tours only, July through September 26th.

Last entry into the mansion will be at 4pm. If you are late we will do our best to accommodate you, but we cannot guarantee you entrance to the mansion after 4pm.
Plan Your Visit
Please check in at the Welcome Center, the brick complex located just past Lyndhurst Mansion, where visitors can visit the gift shop and restrooms. No large bags or backpacks will be permitted in the mansion. Plan to arrive at the Welcome Center 15 minutes prior to your timed entry.
Accessibility
Lyndhurst welcomes all visitors, but please note that this event requires the ability to stand for approximately one hour and climb stairs.
The event traverses two floors of the mansion and only the first floor is handicap accessible.
There is no elevator in this historic building.
