Join author and historian Pamela McColl for a festive presentation exploring the evolution of the Christmas character Mrs. Claus from 1849 to the present day.

During her research for her new book, Wondrous Mrs. Claus – A Literary and Pictorial Review of the Christmas Character, McColl uncovered a range of stories, poems and images portraying Mrs. Claus dating back to the mid-1800s. A selection of these literary treasures offer a unique perspective on the development of this beloved figure will be shared. According to Pamela McColl, Mrs. Claus is more than just a festive icon. She emerged as a fascinating character who played a role in the suffrage movement during the latter half of the nineteenth century. To this day, Mrs. Claus continues to resonate as a vibrant and influential force in Christmas traditions and cultural narratives.

  • Some tickets may be available for purchase on-site, but these are not guaranteed. 
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before the entry time on your ticket. If you are late, we will do our best to accommodate you, but we cannot guarantee it.
  • Check-in at the Welcome Center.
  • All ticket purchases are non-refundable.
  • A Grounds Pass is not needed if you already have a Tour or Event Ticket. 
  • Not recommended for children under 10 years of age.
  • This ticket does not include mansion entry.
