Garden Club of Irvington Flower Show

The members of the Garden Club are planning their upcoming flower show, which—through flowers and plants—will celebrate the life and work of Irvington’s own Washington Irving. The floral design themes include “Short Stories” (miniature arrangements displayed on a mantelpiece) and “Sleepy Hollow Awakenings” (designs that will feature some flowers in bud and others in full bloom.) Mother’s Day Plant Sale

The Garden Club of Irvington, The Hudson Valley Rock Garden Society, Care of Trees and Homegrown Nurseries and Farms invites you to our annual pre-Mother’s Day Plant Sale. You will find unique plants for your gardens and containers, deer-resistant plants, expert gardening advice as well as a raffle for a specimen tree. The sale will run from 10 am to 2 pm at the Greenhouse.

Gardening Workshops

Nick Storrs will offer five hands-on horticultural workshops for adults focused cultivating heirloom vegetable and garden varieties that were common during the Lyndhurst time period – 1830-1950. Workshops will run monthly, May – September.  Each workshop runs from 2 pm – 5 pm and will focus on a set of seasonal gardening skills, planning and propagating seeds, to trellising and pruning techniques, to extending the growing season and putting a garden “to bed” for the winter. Tree Climbing Championship

June 10

Watch as arborists compete to climb Lyndhurst’s towering trees and showcase the highest level of professional skills, safety, and innovation in tree climbing and care. 25 competitors will scale Lyndhurst’s trees as a part of the New York State Arborist’s tree climbing competition. A professional arborist will be on site to answer your questions, provide consultation, and general education. A $5 per person fee is charged for parking. Event runs from 9 am to 2 pm.
